In case you want to use Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2 to host your IPTV solution like DVBLogic DVBLink or Team Media Portal, you need to do some steps in order to make this server OS suitable for this. Follow the next steps in order to accomplish this.

  1. Enable the "Desktop Experience" feature in Windows Server 2012. Easiest way to do this since they changed the location in the UI is to run the following PowerShell command:

    Add-WindowsFeature Desktop-Experience
For Windows Server 2012 R2 instead you need to activate the "Media Foundation" feature using the following PowerShell command:

    Add-WindowsFeature Server-Media-Foundation
After applying this, you'll need to reboot Windows. It might be that it reboots a few times after this to complete the installation. This is normal behavior.

  2. Next, download the BDA driver package for Windows Server 2012 (1.9 MB) or BDA Windows Server 2012 (4,3 MB) and extract the contents on your Windows Server 2012 (R2) machine

  3. In the extracted files, execute server_bdasetup.bat
It might show that some files could not be copied because these are protected by Windows. No worries there.

  4. Once it's done, reboot your server and you should now be good to use your IPTV software.
