​An issue that was bothering me a bit for a while already, but not enough to actually look into it was that on my Lync client, my own profile picture would not be shown. Others would be able to see my picture, but I myself could not.


I figured it was bout time to take action on this. After raising a ticket with our helpdesk and several attempts to clear local caches, the answer was found today. Just in case someone else might stumble upon the same issue, I will share the steps how to resolve this here.

  1. First close Lync on your PC
  2. Open the Registry Editor by launching regedit.exe
  3. In the Registry Editor, navigate to:


  4. You should see a subfolder with your Lync signin address underneath it. Now delete the whole Lync folder in the registry. You may also export it first if you're affraid to do so.

  5. Now restart Lync and log back in to your Lync server again. It will now rebuild the information in the registry, fetch your photo from the servers and there you go.
